Wedge Play - Throw Darts At The Pin
Updated: Nov 26, 2021
When playing your approach wedge shots into the green it's really all about controlling the flight.
It's too difficult to regulate distance by swinging harder or softer. Instead, develop a system of wedge distances by varying how far back you take the club (above).
For example, swing your lob wedge back until your left arm is at 9 o'clock or parallel to the ground and see how far you hit the ball.
For anyone with pitching horrors I recommend you take a look at the orange whip wedge the result of the collaboration between the developer of the Orange Whip, Jim Heckenberg and world-renowned short game expert Stan Utley.
The Wedge will teach you to regulate distance without swinging to hard at the ball.
The wedge combines the Orange Whip counterweighted flexible shaft system with a Stan Utley inspired wedge head to help you maximize your short game around the greens and lower your scores.
